New initiative to open traffic files for residents as soon as they turn 18, introduced in UAE

The Ministry of Interior said on Thursday that citizens in the United Arab Emirates would now have their traffic files opened as soon as they reach 18 according to a new program. 

Upon reaching the age of 18, younger residents will have their traffic file started right away. They will be notified of the same via SMS.

As part of the 'Zero Government Bureaucracy' concept, the authority has implemented additional modifications to the electronic services system.

There are 11 new services aimed at eliminating bureaucracy, which include improvements to the car and driving license section, along with streamlining vehicle transfer and tariff services. Cuts like this are meant to reduce the service duration to a "record" period.

The authority proposed the following improvements in light of the recent modifications to the electronic services:

- For people of determination, obtaining a parking permit has become automatic. 

- The authority has expedited certain services, such as "changing ownership data through digital notifications" and "issuing a replacement for lost or damaged digital plates." 

- People may now easily swap their international driving licence for a domestic one, as well as input their driving licence and proof of ownership into Apple Wallet.

- Licenses from other nations can also be easily exchanged by individuals.

- Ownership of the vehicle will now be granted straight from the dealership. 

- Tests are now being conducted in Abu Dhabi to activate the digital transmission of certificates. 

- With the introduction of the electronic version, the authority has removed the requirement for driving and vehicle ownership licenses to be printed and delivered.

- The digital write-off and ownership transfer of vehicles are now done through a single system.
