New initiative launched by Dubai RTA enables car rental companies to extend the lifespan of vehicles they use

A recent effort by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has made it possible for car rental companies to prolong the life of the vehicles they employ. At first, the project, which deals with commercial cars registered in the emirate, will primarily concentrate on light vehicles used for emirate rental operations.

Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency, stated that the extension will be a choice rather than a requirement for businesses engaged in the car rental industry in Dubai. As of now, rental car firms are required to swap out manual cars every four years and electric cars every six years, starting from the date of manufacturing. 

 

The following is how car rental firms can request an extension of service: 

- Using the company account, access the RTA website. 

- Examine the details and prerequisites. 

- Accept the terms and conditions and use the company's data to verify the request. 

- Choose cars that are at the end of their useful lives. 

- Select the suitable service center, time, and date for the life extension examination.

- Verify the email that contains the booking details. 

- Make sure you show up at the appointed time; pay for the lifetime extension examination; and let the car run. 

- Within 30 days of receiving the Life Extension Inspection Certificate, the client must apply at a service center for the normal technical traffic safety test in the event that the result is Pass. 

 

If a car doesn't pass the test, the owner is responsible for making the required technical changes to the failing car. A maximum of three applications for the test may be submitted by the company.
