New initiative - 'Dubai Farms', was launched in Dubai to boost its agricultural sector

NewsDubai has started a new programme to strengthen its agriculture industry. The initiative, called "Dubai Farms," aims to promote sustainable farming and assist Emirati farmers.
The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced on Monday, March 5. He claimed in a post on X that the initiative is in line with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and is led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the UAE's vice president and prime minister.
The programme will offer the following:
- Farming consultation services
- Required, regular lab testing
- Contracts with specialised distributors of farming products
- A new farmers' association
- Subsidised farming supplies
- Pest control services
- A 'Best Home Garden' competition
- Farming festivals and seasonal farmers' market events
