National Library and Archives launched the first encyclopaedia of UAE history in a ceremony held in Abudhabi

The first encyclopaedia of UAE history was recently released by the National Library and Archives (NLA) at a glamorous event held in Abu Dhabi, which was attended by notable academics, professionals, experts, and researchers.

According to Abdullah Majed Al Ali, director-general of the national library, the initiative gathers the NLA's "holdings and treasures of historical records, documents, and sources on the Gulf region and the UAE" and aims to preserve the nation's legacy.

Scientific committees and teams made up of eminent, carefully chosen scholars, researchers, and intellectuals are the driving forces behind this encyclopaedia. It will initially be available in digital format and comprise seven sections, the first of which is devoted to the geography, location, area, natural resources, and physical aspects of the United Arab Emirates. The history of the nation will be covered in the remaining parts. The authority anticipates it will be finished in five years.

In order to further improve the encyclopaedia, the NLA invites and promotes the involvement of academics, experts, and institutes of higher learning.
