NewsThe Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) conducted National Identity Mark inspections and found that eight private schools out of 153 received an exceptional rating. The national identity programs that are included into the curricula with a focus on students' understanding of Emirati traditions, customs, and values were examined during the inspections.
Additionally, 33 schools received an excellent rating from ADEK's evaluation, while 79 received an adequate rating. Thirty-three private schools received a bad rating; the remaining private schools were not yet evaluated. Six of the schools that were examined in the initial round of inspections asked to be reassessed; two schools stayed the same, Yasmina Private School made a qualitative two-rate jump from weak to good, one school moved from acceptable to good, and one school moved from weak to acceptable.
Before the end of the academic year, 60 private schools will undergo additional inspections.
Three dimensions are covered by the National Identity Mark: citizenship, which includes volunteering, belonging, and conservation; values, which include respect, compassion, and global understanding; and culture, which includes history, heritage, and Arabic language.
The National Identity Mark rankings are evaluated independently of ADEK's Irtiqa’a Inspection, which examines the private schools in Abu Dhabi and offers suggestions for raising performance levels.
