MOHRE reminds private companies to achieve their 1% semi-annual Emiratization goal for the first half of the year

On Thursday, the UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE) reminded private enterprises that the deadline for achieving their goals for the year’s first half has passed. According to MOHRE, businesses have 15 days to reach their 1% semi-annual Emiratization goal. Failure to meet this deadline by July 7 would result in fines of Dh42,000 for each unemployed Emirati.

A new mechanism that divides the annual aim into two halves was revealed earlier this year: Add 1% in the first half of the year and the other 1% in the second. Most businesses must increase the proportion of Emirati employees on their payroll by 2% by the end of 2022 and another 1% by June 30. The target date for hiring 3% of Emiratis has now been extended until July 7.

After July 8, businesses must add an additional 1% by the end of 2023, meaning that by December 31 of the current year, 40% of their trained workforce must be Emirati.
