MOHRE announced extending the deadline for achieving semi-annual Emiratisation targets in the private sector

The deadline for meeting semi-annual Emiratization objectives in the private sector has been extended, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE). The revised deadline, which was previously scheduled on June 30, is now July 7. The extension ensures businesses have enough time to complete their goals by accounting for the Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha holiday period.

MOHRE underlined, nevertheless, that starting on July 8, enterprises will face financial penalties for failing to meet the Emiratization requirements. The government emphasised the value of dedication to these national goals and urged businesses to use this extra time to assess and modify their recruiting tactics. According to the Cabinet Decision, a penalty of Dh42,000 would be imposed for each Emirati who is not engaged inside the targeted enterprises, calculated at a rate of Dh7,000 per month for 2023. Up until 2026, the penalty will rise by Dh1,000 per year.

Companies in the private sector with 50 or more employees are mandated to raise the proportion of Emirati workers in skilled positions by 1% every six months, with the goal of reaching a 2% Emiratisation rate by the end of 2023. The Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council's (Nafis) activities and projects include these. It is anticipated that the targeted firms will have a 10% Emiratisation rate, by the end of 2026. By lowering the number of workers or changing their categorization, for example, one might bypass the Emiratisation objectives, according to the Ministry.
