Mohap will deploy specialised health education teams at airports; aims in safeguarding the health and safety of pilgrims from infectious diseases

In a strategic initiative to protect the health and safety of pilgrims from infectious illnesses, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap), in partnership with its partners in the health sector, has announced it will deploy specialised health education teams at airports. Prior to their departure from the nation, the teams will accompany Haj convoys, offering crucial health advice and highlighting measures to be followed before, during transit, and throughout the trip. The government has provided the health education teams with the tools they need to ensure that pilgrims perform the Haj safely and healthily. This action falls under the ministry's "Safe Healthy Haj" unified awareness campaign for the current Haj season.

The Dubai Health Authority, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi have all joined forces to begin the campaign. Additionally, it is coordinated with the local endowment departments in different emirates as well as the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments. As part of this initiative, Mohap's team will see to it that pilgrims receive the necessary immunisations to protect them from diseases and perform health screenings, such as blood pressure and diabetes tests, with a focus on people with chronic illnesses, the elderly, and pregnant women.

The team will also promote the use of preventative measures, such as abstaining from physical activity and heat fatigue, which can raise the chance of catching illnesses and other health issues. The group will also stress the value of eating a balanced and healthy diet. As part of its efforts to provide comprehensive health and awareness services, the ministry's team will also continue to communicate with the medical teams accompanying the Haj groups to offer support with medications and medical consultations, enabling the pilgrims to perform their Haj rituals in the best possible health and safety.
