To commemorate its first anniversary on June 17, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL) will host a number of cultural, social, and recreational events, contests, and seminars for all age groups. 'A Year of Culture in a Whole World' will serve as the event's motto.

In addition to concerts by the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, the library will feature a variety of events, such as a comic art exhibition, cartoon presentations, pianist performances, mental games, poetry readings, singing, book clubs, and pianist performances. The event will also feature performances of young poets and pianists besides interactive games and activities for young library users, Along with games and entertainment, the MBRL celebration will feature classes on drawing, glass-blowing, podcasting, iPhone photography, and recycling. In addition to an evening of Arabic poetry, storytelling, watercolour painting, and a document restoration workshop, Disney's The Jungle Book will also be screened.

The inclusion of approximately 120,000 books was only one of the successes that MBRL accomplished in a year to foster knowledge exchange and advance cultural awareness. Over 500,000 people of all ages and nationalities visited MBRL to take use of its amenities, services, and specialty sub-libraries. Over 1 million print and electronic book titles were available, and the database had over 21 million items for both books and films. Additionally, more than 4,400 books and more than 620,000 e-books were requested through the website and application, along with six international databases.

Nearly 200 educational, cultural, and training events and seminars, including the monthly gatherings "Library Days" and "Coffee & Book," were planned by the library for adults, kids, and families in a variety of professions and disciplines. These activities help the organisation realise its goal of becoming a beacon of information, culture, and creativity.

More than 250 high-level delegations from the UAE and overseas, including those from Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, the Embassy of the Republic of Malta, and the consulates of Canada, China, and Malaysia, were hosted by the library. In addition to the director of the Spanish El Escorial Library, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), the New York Public Library, and the Science Museum in London, among others, MBRL also welcomed Sultan Sharaf Al Din Idris Shah and his wife. The library also wants to expand its chances for future collaboration with national and international groups.

Publishing companies, authors, writers, and government delegations and consulates from the UAE and overseas gave more than 100,000 volumes to the library. In addition to more than 2,200 rare and priceless publications, the volumes covered a wide variety of subjects including literature, the social sciences, culture, translations, and many other areas. These books were all added to the library's collection of books in more than 70 different languages.
