MoEI approved to waive 50% of fines for violating operating card renewal and cancellation

According to the Federal Law No. 9 of 2011 covering land transportation, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) reported that the UAE Cabinet had approved a resolution to waive 50% of fines for violating operating card renewal and cancellation.

The partial waiver covers fines assessed against land transportation businesses with MoEI licences between the effective date of the federal law and its executive regulations and November 11, 2022.

According to federal law, businesses must obtain a MoEI licence and an operating card for their land vehicles before they can transport people or goods.

Hassan Mohammed Al Mansouri, the MoEI's Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs, stated that the partial waiver will lessen the financial strain on these businesses and assist in the expansion and competitiveness of the transportation industry. The Cabinet's decision shows the government's desire to create a favourable business climate for both domestic and foreign investors in this industry.

The partial waiver encourages land transportation companies to abide by the law and makes the sector more attractive to investors, according to Sheikh Nasser Al Qasimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport Regulation Sector at MoEI.

Land transportation firms were encouraged by Sheikh Al Qasimi to take advantage of the partial waiver, which went into effect at the beginning of 2023.
