NewsBy the beginning of 2025, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) intends to introduce a new system for the regulation and examination of food items in the United Arab Emirates. The Ministry stated that in order to examine the enactment of a set of new laws aimed at consolidating and bolstering control over food items and regulating their distribution throughout the nation, it is working in tandem with the National Food Safety Committee, which was established by the MOCCAE. In a parliamentary report, MOCCAE has updated the Federal National Council on the strategy.
According to the report, the Ministry studied the issuance of a package of new laws in coordination with the National Food Safety Committee. These laws included prohibiting the distribution of new food items labeled as "under preparation," designating as "prepared" the National System for Control and Inspection of Imported Food, and designating as "under preparation" the National System for Control and Inspection of Food Traded in the United Arab Emirates.
To ensure food safety, MOCCAE is currently setting up a unique system for tracking and examining food and its facilities across the nation in compliance with Federal Law No. 10 of 2015's Clause 5 of Article 5.
