Microsoft and G42 will open two centres in Abu Dhabi to work on "responsible" AI initiatives

Microsoft and G42, an artificial intelligence startup based in the United Arab Emirates, announced on Tuesday that they would establish two centers in Abu Dhabi to collaborate on "responsible" AI projects.

With significant investments in AI, the UAE hopes to become a global leader in this field and diversify away from oil. G42, a government-backed company, is leading this effort.

The agreements stated that the deal expanded upon their collaboration from April, in which Microsoft invested $1.5 billion in the Emirati company.

In order to create and exchange best practices in responsible AI, the first center will bring together university researchers and AI practitioners from the commercial sector.

It was announced on Tuesday by Microsoft and G42 that the centers will collaborate to guarantee that "generative AI models and applications are developed, deployed, and used safely".
