The meteors are pieces of comet debris that are speeding into Earth's atmosphere. They can be as little as sand grains or as big as pebbles, and when they do so, they leave behind bright streaks of colour. Arriving at a speed of 71 kilometres per second, a typical Leonid is more than 200 times quicker than a bullet. One of the most well-known meteor showers, the Leonids, peaks every year in the middle of November. Those interested can take a trip to Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, which is among the top locations in the UAE to see the night sky on November 17 and 18.
The Dubai Astronomy Group (DAG) is hosting a stargazing event on Friday night from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Activities will be offered to provide the finest viewing experience possible, including the use of telescopes by attendees and information from knowledgeable guides.
Adult tickets cost Dhs 250, while children under 13 pay Dhs 200. DAG members receive Dhs150 tickets at a reduced price.
Visitors are to ensure to bring blankets in case of extreme cold and food since there won't be anything available for miles.
Once registered on the DAG website, you’ll get a message informing you about the meeting point.
