LiFi launched by the UK-based pureLiFi offers wireless communication using light

This new technology, which was introduced by the UK-based pureLiFi at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) in Barcelona, allows wireless communication by light and may function in tandem with the current Wi-Fi network. LiFi is plug-and-play, much like Wi-Fi access points that individuals own. LiFi can be connected to a network in a matter of seconds by plugging in, according to Ron Schaeffer, chief strategy officer of pureLifi.

Low latency, uncongested gaming, video conferencing, and media streaming will be available to users, saving them from having to compete with other users for Wi-Fi bandwidth. LiFi interacts wirelessly using light instead of the more conventional wireless technologies like Wi-Fi and 5G. This allows LiFi to get around common issues like congestion, buffering, and weak signals.

LiFi, which was included in CES 2024 Tech Trends to Watch, is a major advancement in wireless communications that uses light instead of radio frequencies.

One gigabyte of data may be sent and received per second in both directions by the LiFi device. It has a 50 square metre (540 square foot) coverage area, nearly filling an entire room with LiFi.

The company will collaborate with telecom service providers in order to supply the gadgets that will be put in the customers' homes and businesses.

Schaeffer thinks that LiFi will be the standard for internet access in the future.

Furthermore, pureLiFi is introducing to the market the first commercial light antennas in history for a variety of devices, including smart automobiles, smartphones, and industrial and consumer electronics. These light antennas are the optoelectronic components that enable LiFi.
