Kalba Heritage Market opens with all modern amenities and traditional architectural designs

The Kalba Heritage Market was inaugurated by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah. Subsequently, the market's environs were developed and renovated.

The Sharjah Ruler also went throughout the market, stopping at different stores. Sheikh Sultan was informed by officials on the market's rebuilding process, which included allocating different stores and restoring the historic mosque, residences, and market.

Kalba Heritage Market is located on both sides of Sheikh Saeed bin Hamad Al Qasimi Road, in the Qalaa neighbourhood of the city.

In order to connect the younger generation to their history and legacy, the market, complete with all the contemporary conveniences, has mimicked the area's historic architectural style using traditional architectural designs and building materials.

The legacy market is made up of two rows with 104 vintage retailers that include eateries, cafés, apparel and perfume shops, and other establishments. These stores' facades are distinguished by a historical stamp that blends well with the classic urban design of the city's historic centre.

In addition, there is a 570-meter-long history arcade with distinctive architectural arches and two distinct wood and plaster styles in front of each store in the market. The historic market is split into two sections: the 120-meter-long section east of Sheikh Saeed bin Hamad Street and the 470-meter-long one west of the street.

Children can have fun at the market as well. These consist of a play area and a horse-riding course. Additionally, there is a location set aside for taking photos of falcons. The market has been equipped with several public and health services and amenities, the surrounding area's infrastructure has been developed and all of the roads paved.

It is surrounded by 473 parking lots that are accessible from several directions as well as the front and rear streets. Visitors will find it easier to go to different retail and leisure venues as a result.
