The Integrated Transport Centre said on Wednesday that some cars will not be allowed to enter Abu Dhabi for a while. The entry of large vehicles, such trucks and buses, that are utilised to move labourers to Abu Dhabi would be prohibited. The period of this temporary prohibition is set to run from Friday, December 1, 2023, until Monday, December 4, 2023.
According to the authorities, some heavy trucks won't be allowed entry to certain areas, such as Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Mussafah Bridge, and Al Maqta Bridge, from 12 p.m. on December 1 to 1 a.m. on December 4.
The government did point out that trucks utilised by logistic support services and public sanitation firms are not subject to this temporary truck prohibition. ITC advised drivers to use caution and follow all traffic laws.
Concurrent with the UAE Union Day festivities are the temporary restrictions. Workers in the public and private sectors will take an extended weekend off from December 2 to 4, with work starting again on Tuesday, December 5. Plus, beginning Friday, December 1, workers in the public sector will be able to work remotely.
