ESPNCricinfo announced on Thursday that the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction would take place in Dubai on December 19. It would be the first time an auction has ever been held abroad.
The second ODI of India's tour of South Africa is scheduled on December 19 in Gqeberha, South Africa, and will coincide with the event. The auction pool will be settled in early December, and the 10 IPL franchises have until November 15 to submit their list of retained and released players.
With a portion of the competition contested in the UAE in 2014, the IPL is not new to the UAE or Dubai. Moreover, the UAE hosted the full competition in 2020 and a portion of it in 2021.
