Indian Consulate releases new guidelines for repatriating the bodies of deceased expats

NewsNew restrictions on the repatriation of deceased foreign nationals' remains have been implemented by the Indian Consulate in Dubai. According to one of the new regulations, the only people who can sign and revoke the required paperwork are blood relatives or those with power of attorney.
Another regulation now requires the signatures of five separate Indian officials, including panchayat offices, in order to transfer funds from the Indian Consulate for repatriation.
Additionally, the statement stated that the Consulate is totally dedicated to giving bereaved families and "duly authorised" individuals access and assistance. It also stated that these services are provided to families "at no service charge" by the "Consulate has a panel of community associations" in every emirate.
