ICP has announced a significant amendment to the passport validity requirement for residency and visa violators

The passport validity requirement for residents and visa violators during the grace period from September 1 to October 31, 2024, has undergone a substantial revision, according to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).

The procedure for violators wishing to change their status has been simplified by reducing the needed passport validity from six months to only one month.

This modification is intended to streamline the process for infringers who want to depart the nation without facing an entrance ban or find new work possibilities in the United Arab Emirates. Children born abroad and those on administrative lists, who previously experienced delays from long passport renewal processes through their embassies, will gain most from the reform.

The Director General of the ICP, Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, stressed that this modification is a part of a larger initiative to provide tolerance during the grace period, freeing violators from fines. He said that the choice demonstrates the Authority's dedication to resolving client issues with useful solutions.
