Iconic yellow and white colour taxis reappears as part of the 52nd Union Day celebrations

With updated amenities, the famous yellow and white taxis from the 1980s are making a reappearance. According to a representative of the Department of Municipalities and Transport's Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), up to 100 such taxis are in use on the mainland.

The features and specs are the same as the current silver cabs, except the branding in yellow and white.

According to Al Mazrouei, the programme offers a chance for those who have rode the cabs to relive their experiences and gives the younger generation a glimpse into the past. There are over 100 yellow and white taxis that are in use during the Sheikh Zayed Festival in addition to the mainland.

Amid a flurry of modern silver taxis, the vintage yellow and white vehicles are immediately drawing attention on the streets.
