It was declared on Monday that heavy vehicles weighing more than 65 tonnes will not be allowed to travel on UAE roadways. The same is governed by a federal law that came into effect in 2024 and controls the weight of vehicles that have been authorised by the UAE Cabinet.The weights and dimensions of large trucks will be measured and monitored by a sophisticated computerised gate system.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, stated that the goal is to "preserve our advanced infrastructure" and improve road safety.
