"Heat Exhaustion and Disease Prevention Campaign" unveiled in UAE; thousands of workers to be trained related to emergencies

The "Heat Exhaustion and Disease Prevention Campaign" for this year was unveiled on Wednesday, which was coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) with assistance from other governmental organisations. Thousands of workers in UAE will soon receive training that might equip them to act immediately if any of their coworkers contract heat stroke or other associated ailments.

Head of the health promotion department's special programmes section Mira Shuhail stated that up to 6,000 workers will be trained to save their colleagues in emergencies like heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and other heat-related incidents.

Government representatives, medical professionals, and specialists will begin visiting Sharjah's workplaces and lodging establishments on July 1 to spread awareness about heat exhaustion.

The campaign will encompass the cities of Kalba, Khorfakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, and other areas in the northwest, as well as the centre portion of the emirate, which includes Al Dhaid and Al Hamriya.

Authorities will examine employees' health as part of the programme. "To monitor and maintain their well-being, we will be conducting health checkups such as blood pressure and diabetes and other tests," stated Mohammed Al Zarooni, the head of the Ministry's Sharjah Representative Office.

The campaign will also address the nutritional choices of the workforce and provide freebies like food, drinks, and customised meal plans to encourage a healthy lifestyle. They will next learn about various foods and beverages that can help them stay safe in hot conditions.
