‘Healthy Cities’ programme in Sharjah could expand Khorfakkan, Kalba, and Al Dhaid

There are plans to extend the "Healthy Cities" initiative in the Sharjah emirate to Khorfakkan, Kalba, and Al Dhaid. It comes after the most recent meeting of the "Executive Committee for Expanding the Scope of Healthy Cities in Sharjah," which was convened recently at the Sharjah Health Authority's headquarters to talk about the development of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Healthy City initiative.

Sharjah became the first emirate in the United Arab Emirates to be admitted into the "Healthy Cities" initiative in 2012.

Health Cities assesses the methods used by local governments to accomplish their goals and how they prioritize health. A "public health report" that details the state of the city's population's health is one of these things. It uses indicators like disease prevalence, socioeconomic status, lifestyle, environmental factors, and the use of health services (such as admission or attendance rates). Other factors that affect health include traffic and crime.
