Unwanted sales calls continue to annoy UAE citizens despite efforts to stop the practice. In addition to enacting penalties, the government has tightened restrictions regarding cold calling.
A decision to control cold calling was adopted by the Cabinet earlier this week. The Dubai Media Office released a statement stating that requirements and guidelines for telemarketing activities would be established for corporations. It further said that infractions will also result in sanctions. The regulations will be enforced by a joint effort by federal and local authorities.
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates launched the Kashif project in 2022, which registers businesses for caller ID services automatically. This implies that the business associated with the number will show up on the recipient's phone when an unknown caller shows up. This can assist locals in determining whether or not to answer the call.
'Do Not Call Registry (DNCR)' registration is another option available in the UAE if blocking numbers isn't effective. One expresses his or her desire to not receive calls for promotions and telemarketing by registering.
