‘Golden chance’ scheme permits to convert licence without having to take lessons, for those not in the RTA approved list

Before this year, individuals who received their licences from nations not recognised by the Road Transport Authority (RTA) had to take lessons and pass a driving test to convert them. Now, individuals can change their licence without taking classes with the "golden chance" programme, the only requirement being to pass a theory and road test to convert their licence.

The “Golden Chance” scheme allows drivers with licences from nations including India, Pakistan, and the Philippines that the RTA has not authorised. Anyone from the RTA recognised list of nation, who wants to convert their licence, can do so easily through the RTA. The UK, France, Hong Kong, South Africa, Denmark, Ireland, the United States, Canada, are some of these nations.
