Popular e-hailing service Bolt has made its debut in Dubai, marking its first entry into the United Arab Emirates. The service, already operational in over 600 cities globally, including London, Paris, and Riyadh, arrives as part of a strategic collaboration with the Dubai Taxi Company, the emirate's largest taxi operator.
The partnership was announced during the GITEX Global conference on October 15. Initially, Bolt's rollout focuses on limousine services and began during the Eid Al Etihad celebrations. With over 6,000 vehicles in the Dubai Taxi Company fleet, Bolt integration means nearly half of the taxis in Dubai will be accessible through the app.
Bolt's presence introduces added competition to established services like Careem and Hala, potentially driving competitive pricing for customers. While Bolt offers services like food delivery, scooter rental, and short-term car rentals in other countries, it remains unclear if these will be available in the UAE.
