Free water, drinks, and ice cream are being distributed to employees in the emirate to combat the intense heat across Dubai. The "Freej Fridge" campaign, which will benefit over a million workers in Dubai, includes labourers who build roads, transport packages, and maintain them.
In order to keep important personnel from succumbing to heat exhaustion and dehydration, ice cream trucks are filled with very cold products and driven throughout the city during the day.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) has provided funding for the new initiative, which was started by the Emirati social company Ferjan Dubai in partnership with Suqia UAE and the UAE Foodbank.
