Fourth edition of Dubai Schools Games: Karate is now part the event, innovative points system to be introduced this year

The Dubai Schools Games will now include karate, officials announced on Tuesday. This year, a novel point system will also be unveiled. The games, which are in their fourth iteration already, will start on Thursday. The new features for this year's school games, which are held by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) annually, include karate championships and a school leaderboard.

All youngsters may participate in a variety of competitions throughout the competition, which continues until June 26. These include team sports like netball and cricket as well as non-traditional sports like golf, gymnastics, and archery. Twenty different sports will be available at 25 various locations over the course of the next nine months, with the aim of developing potential and getting young people ready for their future path to become Olympic winners.

New prizes for the Dubai Schools Games in 2023 will reward the best schools in two categories. "2023-24 Dubai Schools Games Champion – Primary" and "2023-24 Dubai Schools Games Champion Secondary" are the titles of these.

According to Clark, teams and athletes perform to gain points, which encourages healthy competition among schools. Following every tournament, the Top 10 schools will be updated on the leaderboard to provide incentive.

The games will also be held at some of the most well-known sports venues in the city, such as the football-focused Al Nasr Sports Club, the swimming-focused Hamdan Sports Complex, the basketball-, badminton-, and unified games-focused Dubai Sports World, the tennis-focused Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium, and the cycling-focused Expo City Dubai.

The largest school sports tournament is the first step in identifying and nurturing young athletes, as stated by Saeed Harib, secretary-general of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC). The yearly event is made even more exciting by the cooperation between Talabat and Dubai Schools Games, which includes activities designed to interest both parents and children.
