Skywatchers in the UAE can look forward to witnessing the final meteor shower of the year, the Geminids Meteor Shower, on December 13. The Dubai Astronomy Group (DAG) has announced a special viewing event at the Al Qudra Desert, promising an ideal setting to enjoy this spectacular celestial display. Under optimal conditions, the vibrant Geminids can produce up to 120 meteors per hour.
The Geminids Meteor Shower is an annual phenomenon that occurs as Earth traverses the debris path of asteroid 3200 Phaethon. When these fragments collide with Earth’s atmosphere, they ignite, creating luminous trails of light across the sky.
