Fifth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon; around 23,000 runners to take part in the event on December 16

The fifth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, which has attracted a large number of community members over the years, will feature top international runners. A projected 23,000 runners are anticipated to compete on December 16, in a variety of lengths, including the 42.195-kilometer marathon, marathon relay, 10km, 5km, and 2.5km events.

Men's competitors in the event include Kenya's Kiptum Barnabas, who placed first in both the 2017 Buenos Aires Marathon and the 2019 Hong Kong Marathon, and Andrew Kwemoi of Uganda, the 2023 Milano Marathon champion. Among the star-studded field of competitors in the women's event are Kenyan Maurine Chepkemoi, the winner of the 2022 Enschede Marathon, and Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba, the 2017 Chicago Marathon winner and Olympic 10km champion. The involvement of elite international runners emphasises the event's significance both locally and worldwide, according to Suhail Al Arifi, executive director of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council's events division.

The following lengths are available for registration: marathon, marathon relay (teams of 2), 10km, 5km, and 2.5km. The event is accessible to the entire community, including families and kids.

For those with a strong will and Paralympic athletes, registration is free.

The ADNOC Campus, which is next to Bainuna Public Park and serves as a designated space for warming up and enjoying refreshments, is where all races will conclude. They will start at various sites around the ADNOC headquarters on Corniche Road.

The Marathon Village for this year is situated at the Adnoc headquarters and is open from December 12 to December 16 (from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.). With plenty of food options and entertainment, the free-to-enter town will provide guests with an immersive experience.

A special, eco-friendly Nike technical racing t-shirt will be given to each runner. During the village's open hours, or by adding their names online, participants may personalise their shirts. Race packets may be picked up from Marathon Village between December 12 and 15 by those who register after November 30. After this time, it will not be possible to pick up the racing pack.
