FedEx is expanding with its MEISA hub at Dubai World Central Airport in Dubai South

NewsWith the opening of its new Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA) hub at Dubai World Central (DWC) Airport in Dubai South, FedEx Express (FedEx) said on Tuesday that it is growing its presence.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, along with Raj Subramaniam, President and CEO of FedEx Corporation, Richard W. Smith, President and CEO of FedEx Express, Airline and International, and Kami Viswanathan, President of FedEx Express MEISA, officially opened the facility.
Through physical and technology advances in the facility, the hub's debut signifies a long-term investment of more than $350 million (Dh1.3 billion) into the economy of the UAE. Among the cutting-edge technology incorporated into the 57,000 square metre facility are automated sorting systems, which improve package processing and delivery from the facility in terms of speed, accuracy, and efficiency. In order to improve security and scan items quickly, the hub also has two automated, high-speed x-ray scanners with artificial intelligence. To accommodate a variety of shipments that are sensitive to temperature, there is also a 170 square metre cold storage module.
