The UAE's founding father, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, observed the first class of teachers graduate from UAE University on this day in 1982, "marking a historic step" in the nation's development and expansion, the President said. He emphasised that this day would commemorate all educators and acknowledge their vital role in the advancement of the United Arab Emirates.
The President further underlined that since its establishment, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has understood the critical role that education plays, putting it at the centre of its development strategies and viewing it as the engine of national growth and cultural progression.
The late Sheikh Zayed founded UAE University in 1976, making it the country's premier academic institution and the oldest in the United Arab Emirates. As strong proponents of education, the founding fathers emphasised that "our country's future will be built upon our youth."
