Extended maternity leave for Emirati women working in the private sector will begin on September 1

The extended maternity leave for Emirati women employed in the private sector will start on September 1, 2024, Abu Dhabi announced on Tuesday. As previously announced, mothers who give birth starting from September 1, 2024, will be eligible for the 90-day maternity leave, according to officials.

As long as their employer in the private sector approves, Emirati moms employed in that sector may also apply for this new program to get additional financial help during their paid maternity leave.

Maternity Leave Support for Women in the Private Sector Program: Emirati mothers must apply within 30 days after the birth of their child in order to be eligible. A legitimate pay certificate and all of the information related to their bank account, including the IBAN, must also be provided. Similarly, a family book must be published in Abu Dhabi. A no-objection certificate from their workplace should also be shown.

This new project is a part of the five-year Emirati Family Growth Support Programme.

For Emirati women employed in Abu Dhabi's private sector, the length of maternity leave was increased from 60 to 90 days, according to an announcement made by the authorities in July.

Under the "home visit service," which the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority will implement, new mothers will get support throughout the early stages of parenthood. It stated that the objective is to monitor the baby's growth and development and to promote the parents' well-being.

Emirati couples will also benefit from a plethora of additional programs and financial relief packages, such as marriage loans and debt discounts, rental help, and longer maternity leave in addition to home visits.
