Environment Agency Abu Dhabi announced its success in planting of 44 million mangrove trees in the emirate

NewsAs part of the UAE's efforts to address climate change, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) said on Friday that it had successfully planted 44 million mangrove plants across the emirate since 2020.
As part of the Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative (ADMI) and the state's efforts to plant 100 million mangrove trees by 2030 to help achieve climate neutrality by 2050, EAD, in collaboration with the Department of Municipalities and Transport and ADNOC, has successfully planted 23 million mangrove trees in the last two years, or 9,200 hectares.
The objective of this programme, which backs the Abu Dhabi Climate Change Strategy, was to increase the significance and expedite the process of protecting and restoring mangrove ecosystems while strengthening their crucial and potent role in the fight against climate change.An estimated 233,000 tonnes of carbon emissions, or more than 25,000 households' worth of energy use, are predicted to be stored by these trees each year.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, expressed his satisfaction with this accomplishment.
