Employees who are covered by the General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) in the United Arab Emirates now enjoy greater job switching freedom. Changes to the "Shourak" programme allow Emirati workers to file "merge" requests three months after joining a new business instead of one, as it was before. In order to finish the qualifying pension term, Shourak permits insured workers to combine service years.
The Shourak programme changes are applicable to requests sent to the GPSSA after July 1, 2023, since some applications were denied because they were filed beyond the one-month deadline. Shourak assists insured people who want to switch employers while still being covered by the GPSSA. If an insured person has worked for an organisation for less than a year, they are not eligible for an end-of-service gratuity.
