Emirati astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi, was honoured with Personality of the Year award at the 10th Sharjah Government Communication Award

At Sharjah Expo Centre, a magnificent awards ceremony marked the conclusion of the two-day International Government Communication Forum (IGCF). The first-ever "Personality of the Year" award was presented during the 10th Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) to Emirati astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi, who made history by spending six months aboard the International Space Station.

The awardees were recognised by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Head of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC). Other prizes for innovative and effective government communication were given out.

Frank Caprio, a former chief judge of the Providence Municipal Court in the United States, received the award for "Best Positive Social Impact Driver." His decisions on social media made him a global viral hit, giving him the title of "the nicest judge in the world."

The Sharjah Government Media Bureau's (SGMB) Director-General, Tariq Saeed Allay, stated that the SGCA has actively worked to raise standards in government communication practises during the past ten years. 

A groundbreaking study exhibiting instances of how governments throughout the globe are experimenting with audacious and cutting-edge communications tactics was released during the event. The SGMB and Apolitical, a worldwide network and learning platform for government with a purpose to create 21st-century governments that function for people and the planet, collaborated to create the study, 100 Innovations in Government Communications 2023.
