Dubai to host and organise the 2024 World Cities Culture Summit from October 30 to November 1

Dubai won the proposal to arrange and host the World Cities Culture Summit (WCCS) in 2024, which will take place in the MENA area for the first time from October 30 to November 1, 2024. A team from the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) was present for the announcement, which was made during this year's conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from October 25 to 27. Every year, member cities of the World Cities Culture Forum come together for the three-day World Cities Culture Summit, which provides a forum for the sharing of innovative concepts and industry-best practises in cultural governance.

The summit undertakes extensive research projects in partnership with its city partners, building a strong body of evidence to highlight the complex impact of culture on global cities and the lives of their citizens. The World Cities Culture Forum, which is made up of more than 40 cities globally, is acknowledged as the most important international network influencing arts and culture policies. Its objectives are to emphasise the importance of culture in cities and the development of sustainable urban centres, as well as to show how culture is a key factor in societal and economic growth.

The emirate's continued development of a knowledge-and innovation-based sustainable creative economy is further cemented by hosting this significant summit, according to Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Member of the Dubai Council. She emphasised the importance of the summit as a global forum that unites scholarly research, creative innovations, and global cultural experiences to foresee the future of cities and redefine and reshape them via culture. In order to better prepare communities for upcoming changes, the summit also aims to coordinate efforts to improve community quality of life.
