Dubai South announced the successful trial of its first driverless lorries

The first driverless lorries from Dubai South were successfully tested. Dubai South in collaboration with Evocargo had dispatched the vehicles along a predetermined path within the Dubai South Logistics District. The robot truck, which was built with an autopilot system, can recognize objects and collisions to prevent it from hitting anybody or anything on the highways.

The system was tested during the trial to ensure everything was operating as it should. The test included instructions on reverse parking, turning, and reverse turning. It also examined the control panel and its remote monitoring capabilities.

A new federal traffic regulation was approved in June 2024 in the United Arab Emirates, extending the categories of cars that are permitted to be driven on public roadways.

The goal is to ultimately have 4,000 driverless taxis operating on Dubai's roadways, which should reduce traffic, pollutants, and accidents.

It will imply that a wider range of contemporary technology, including electric automobiles, self-driving cars, and other personal mobility options, will be permitted to be registered on the roadways.
