Dubais Sheikh Zayed Road neighbourhood has been renamed; 28 names listed by the Dubai Land Department

Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road area has been renamed after the world’s highest structure — the Burj Khalifa. The nearly 14-year-old, 830-meter structure looms over other well-known buildings that line the main thoroughfare in the Emirate. This becomes the most prominent name change among the 28 listed by the Dubai Land Department.

There are a number of buildings containing flats, offices, hotel rooms, and residences along the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. The neighbourhood is well-liked by investors, tenants, and visitors due to its close proximity to well-known landmarks and important places including Downtown, Business Bay, JLT, and Dubai Marina, among others, according to the real estate listings website Bayut.

Motor City has been renamed Al Hebiah First; Ranches, Wadi Al Asafa 6; Sports City, Al Hebiah Fourth; and Al Quoz 2, Ghadeer Al Tair. 

Recently, Dubai revealed plans to name roads using a new system. Roads in the Al Khawaneej 2 neighbourhood were given names inspired by local flowers and trees during the initiative's initial phase. One of the most well-liked tree species in the area inspired the name of Al Ghaf Street. Al Sidr, Basil, Al Faggy, Al Samr, and Al Sharish were among the other streets in the vicinity that were given similar names.
