Dubai’s RTA will build air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders across the city

To improve traffic safety and lower the likelihood of accidents, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) plans to construct air-conditioned rest places for delivery riders around the city. Up to 40 of these rest zones are planned to be constructed in strategic locations to provide delivery riders with comfortable facilities while they wait for fresh orders. This will raise their level of satisfaction and motivate them to abide by traffic laws and regulations.

Every day, thousands of delivery riders from businesses like Deliveroo, Noon, Talabat, and others carry food and beverage items as well as other requests across the city. When there are no orders to be delivered, these amenities will make sure that bike riders may unwind comfortably. In Dubai, 2,891 organisations provide motorbike delivery services as of 2022, a 40% rise from the previous year, 2021.

Two of the rest areas in Al Barsha have already been finished by RTA, and the building of the other ones is slated to happen in three stages. By July 2024, it is anticipated that every restplace will be functioning. Several rest places are planned at Arabian Ranches, International City, Business Bay, Al Quoz, Al Karama, Al Satwa, Al Jaddaf, and Mirdif, among other districts of the emirate, according to the research that RTA commissioned.

A food dispenser, water cooler, and smartphone charging station are featured in every rest space. It offers plenty of motorbike parking places right next to the facility and can hold up to ten people. The rest spaces' exteriors were planned to minimise solar radiation and guarantee adequate insulation.
