NewsAlong the 9 kilometers of Sheikh Rashid Street, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully converted 900 lighting units to energy-efficient LED lighting. By providing service to drivers in both directions over a 9-kilometer stretch of 10 lanes, this initiative improves the emirate's road lighting sustainability.
Over the course of six months, the improvement was finished in three stages. Phase one included the area from Deira to the Al Garhoud Bridge; phase two covered the area between Deira and Bur Dubai; and phase three covered the area from Bur Dubai to the Sheikh Khalifa Street/Sheikh Rashid Street intersection.
In order to update Dubai's streetlight system and further promote sustainability goals, RTA is still dedicated to upgrading the road network and facilities and implementing creative and clever technical solutions that are suited to the country's environment.
