Dubai's RTA has devised a comprehensive plan ahead of COP28 to make travel convenient for residents

A detailed strategy has been laid out by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) before the commencement of COP28 to facilitate easier, quicker, and more affordable transport for residents. The premier international event is slated to happen at Expo City Dubai from November 30 to December 12. As per the plan, RTA will transport official delegations across the Blue Zone and public and corporate representatives, as well as participants in the 18th United Nations Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY18), across the Green Zone.

Eco-friendly transit will also make it easier for people to enter and exit the event. At the event location, RTA will use a variety of transport options, including the Dubai Metro, Dubai Bus, and taxis, to guarantee mobility management and efficient traffic flow. Delegates to COP28 are eligible to get special edition Nol cards, which grant them free use of public transit across the nation while at the conference.

Travel by Metro :

Expo 2020 Metro Station will be the main entrance point for the Dubai Metro, which will be the main mode of transit during the climate conference. The RTA will extend metro operation hours to 5am till 1am the next day throughout the conference time.

In addition, members may take advantage of free multi-level parking at stations including Jebel Ali Station, Etisalat by e&, and Centrepoint.

Travel by Buses and Taxis :

Ten electric buses and 67 biofuel-powered buses are to be used at four locations within Expo City Dubai to transport tourists. In order to get delegates and organisers to important spots in the city including JBR, the Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta, and others, RTA has also added additional bus routes. RTA has placed more than a hundred directional road signs directing drivers to the conference location to prevent any misunderstanding.

There will be more than 10,000 hybrid taxis and 1,000 luxurious electric cars available to taxi customers. These vehicles may easily enter Expo City through four designated stops: Opportunity Gate, Mobility Gate, Sustainability Gate, and Metro Gate.

Support to youth Initiatives:

In an effort to encourage young people to take up climate action, RTA has given young conference attendees free "pre-charged" nol cards. Those attending the conference may find the quickest and most convenient way to the venue by downloading the 'S’hail' app and obtaining a nol card.

Young people are being asked by the RTA to use public transport as a sustainable means of enjoying Dubai's landscape and helping to cut carbon emissions.
