Dubai’s RTA has awarded a contract for constructing internal roads and ‎lighting works in Al Qusais Industrial Area 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

In Al Qusais Industrial Areas 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has awarded a contract for internal road construction and lighting work.

The project includes the building of 32 roadways totaling 10 km and 43 km of street lighting. The project will increase traffic on the route by 200% (from 500 to 1,500 cars per hour in both directions) and cut travel time by 60%.

In order to develop the infrastructure of residential and industrial areas, address the needs of demographic and urban expansion, and promote the wellbeing and happiness of the residents, the action is in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. ‎

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive ‎Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, Mattar Al Tayer said: “The construction of internal roads reflects ‎RTA’s keenness to upgrade the infrastructure of roads, streetlights and rainwater drainage ‎systems in residential and industrial communities. The internal roads project in Al Qusais ‎Industrial Areas 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 improves the linking of Al Qusais Industrial Areas, which are ‎served by four main streets, namely Amman Street, Beirut Street, Halab Street, and Damascus ‎Street. It improves the entrances and exits for 320 workshops, 25 residential buildings, shops, ‎and educational zones. The population of the area is estimated at 60,000 people.”‎

"RTA is now constructing an internal road and installing lamps in four residential districts, including Margham, Lehbab, Al Lisaili, and Hatta. The project will cover a total of around 37 kilometres (21 km of road construction and 16 km of existing street lighting). By the end of this year, the project is anticipated to be finished. The internal roadways project in Margham involves building 8 km of roads along the Dubai-Al Ain Road, close to Skydive Dubai, as well as supporting infrastructure such lighting and rainfall drainage systems. More than 1,100 local inhabitants are served by the initiative, according to Al Tayer.
