NewsDubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) highlighted that school administrators and bus operators need to make sure kids have a safe and healthy travel as the approaching academic year approaches.
The authorities emphasised the importance of health and safety precautions on school buses and the responsibility schools have to offer a comfortable environment for bus attendants and kids.
Recognising the vital relevance of this service to the UAE's parents and leadership, RTA keeps a close eye on the day-to-day operations of the school transport sector throughout the Emirate.
The safety is maintained by ensuring the following:
- Buses undergo routine tests to verify their roadworthiness and safety
- Buses equipped with emergency equipment to ensure prompt replies
- Attendants must accompany students to the closest location to their residences.
- RTA's expert teams conduct inspection campaigns to ensure bus operators follow school transportation rules and regulations.
- School bus companies must tell their drivers to follow all traffic laws, especially when it comes to the highways and the regions around schools, and to refrain from getting in the way of other cars.
- School bus drivers are directed not to park their vehicles in front of entrances or exits close to schools to reduce traffic and maintain a smooth flow of traffic.
RTA mandates that school transport providers give their drivers and bus attendants extensive training on how to manage youngsters safely and professionally.
Through the adoption of safe driving habits, drivers are made aware of their primary responsibility for guaranteeing the safety of students throughout their everyday travels.
RTA oversees the driver training that operators perform. This entails following safety regulations and being in constant contact with parents to reassure them about their kids' safety while riding school buses every day.
