Dubai’s RTA completes project making buildings and facilities more accessible for people of determination

Phase III of a project to upgrade its buildings and facilities has been completed by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in order to make them accessible and friendly for people of determination by the norms of the "Dubai Building Code". The head office, fifteen bus stations, four multi-level parking terminals, two customer satisfaction centres, five administrative buildings, and Al Jaddaf Marine Transport Station are among the 26 structures and facilities that have been certified to satisfy the established requirements. Although upgrades will continue as the "Dubai Building Code" develops, the facilities renovation project comes to a conclusion with the completion of the third phase. 

Improvements include ramps and informational signboards, automatic entrance doors, designated waiting areas for determined individuals, lifts that are roomy and easily accessible, and accessible pathways for the visually impaired that are both indoors and outdoors. As an example of accommodations for the tenacious, Braille-equipped tactile guide plates have been erected for those who are visually impaired. State-of-the-art equipment can help with service demands for those who have hearing problems. In addition, the RTA has provided wheelchairs and other essential facilities to assist customers with mobility issues.

Six months were spent preparing the facilities, with special attention paid to important sites including the RTA Head Office, Hatta, Al Qusais, Deira City Centre, and the bus terminals in Jebel Ali. Karama Bus Station, Mall of the Emirates Station, Union, Al Ghubaiba, Al Kifaf, Satwa, Oud Metha, International City, Al Quoz, Business Bay, and Ibn Battuta stations were all included in the reconstruction project. Additionally, the RTA made sure that accessible amenities were available for persons with a strong will at a number of multi-level parking facilities, such as those at Al Ghubaiba, Al Sabkha, Al Rigga Carlton Tower, and Naif.
