NewsEnvisioning Dubai as the world's greatest city to live in, the Crown Prince of Dubai unveiled the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 on Tuesday. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum unveiled a 200-project and initiative plan in X, that guarantees citizens may get basic services in 20 minutes. Making Dubai a family-, pedestrian-, and environmentally friendly metropolis is the goal of the initiative.
When it comes to public spaces like parks and beaches, the plan calls for the creation of more than 200 parks, a 300 percent increase in bike lanes on beaches, a 60 percent increase in night swimming beach length, the designation of new beaches as being only for women, and detailed plans for the development of Dubai's surrounding areas.
Sheikh Hamdan went over the updated plan to create model neighborhoods in three different Dubai districts: Al Mizhar 1, Al Khawaneej 2, and Al Barsha 2. By modernizing social facilities and services, encouraging soft mobility options for healthier living conditions, and strengthening links between community hubs like parks, mosques, and stores, this new vision seeks to improve the infrastructure of these existing neighborhoods.
During Phase 1 of the strategy, more than 3,000 trees and plants will be planted, more than 115 km of walking and bicycle routes will be built, and more than 20 investment opportunities will be provided for the people living in Al Khawaneej 2 and Al Barsha 2. The proposed reconstruction entails renovating the current collector routes and building family play areas, bike and e-scooter lanes, pedestrian walkways, and bathrooms.
In order to give each residential neighborhood a particular character and increase safety, the vision also calls for planting, the construction of architecturally significant gates, the enhancement of alleyways and street crossings with pedestrian lanes, and other features.
In addition to improving public services and providing investment opportunities for locals, it also implements the '20-minute city' concept, which seeks to guarantee that residents can access 80% of critical services in under 20 minutes using sustainable and soft mobility choices.
The Crown Prince also looked over the plans for Dubai's upcoming parks, which will have cutting-edge features that will address the various demands of the local population, capture the distinct identity of each neighborhood, and promote wellbeing through sustainable practices. Within three years, the emirate will have more than thirty parks built with the new designs.
