Dubai RTA launches smart gates introduced on Dubai-Hatta Road and desert routes to enhance safety

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently introduced smart electronic gates on key desert roads, including the Dubai-Hatta route, aimed at enhancing traffic safety and preventing stray animals from entering highways. In a statement posted on X, the RTA emphasized that these gates would contribute to smoother traffic flow and help reduce accidents caused by animal crossings.

This initiative forms part of the RTA’s broader strategy to bolster road safety and infrastructure across the emirate. As part of its ongoing projects, the authority plans to expand the installation of these gates to more locations throughout 2025.

In parallel, other emirates are implementing advanced traffic safety measures. Ajman, for instance, launched a smart monitoring system on October 1, covering 26 key locations equipped with AI-driven electronic gates. These systems are capable of identifying violations such as improper mobile phone use and failure to wear seatbelts. Authorities hope these technological advancements will help curb traffic violations and ensure safer roads for motorists and pedestrians.
