The first and second stages of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority's energy-saving initiative are finished. 19,968 energy-efficient LED lightbulbs were installed in metro stations and other buildings as part of this initiative. In just two years, this project has saved almost 16.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, or Dh7.6 million. Furthermore, it has resulted in a 7,283-ton CO2 reduction in the carbon footprint.
This project aims to improve Dubai's sustainability and quality of life for people all over the world. By offering an eco-friendly transit system and demonstrating its support for Dubai's integrated energy plan, which seeks to save 30% of energy by 2030, RTA is attempting to achieve sustainability.
The project entails swapping out the normal lighting fixtures in Dubai Metro stations and facilities with LED lights on its red and green lines, according to Mohammed Al Amiri, Director of the Rail Maintenance at RTA's Train Agency. LED lights are a more cost-effective and ecologically friendly lighting solution that reflects RTA's dedication to sustainable practices. They convert around 95% of the energy utilised into light while wasting about 5% as heat.
