Dubai residents get free swimming lessons at Jumeirah beach by participating in beach clean-up

This summer, residents of Dubai may receive free swimming lessons via a clever scheme. People may learn the basics of swimming every weekend from 7 to 8 a.m. at Jumeirah 1 public beach, close to La Mer South. However, in exchange for the free instruction, students must help with the volunteer beach clean-up. Bimbo Calitis, a Filipino immigrant who founded and serves as CEO of Amphibious Swim School in Jumeirah, initiated the program two years ago with an hour-long free-swimming session followed by fifteen minutes of beach cleanup.

Since last month, there have been free swimming classes, and they will run through September.

According to Calitis, he will guarantee that every dedicated student advances from a novice to an experienced swimmer. Calitis said pull buoys, safety rings, kickboards, and floats will be supplied. All that is required of students is to have their own set of goggles, a relaxed swimsuit, water, sunscreen, and—above all—a strong drive to study and a willingness to clean up the beach.

A novice may pick up the fundamentals of freestyle swimming in a few weeks, according to Calitis. You may reach him via the Amphibious Swim School website and social media accounts.

Days: This Saturday and this Sunday

Time: from 7 to 8 a.m.

Location: Jumeirah 1 public beach, near La Mer South
