Dubai Police are offering free car seats to parents as part of the Child Seat, Safety and Serenity programme, to promote child safety

As part of a drive to encourage kid safety, Dubai Police are giving parents free car seats. It follows 47 car incidents this year that resulted in 45 serious injuries and two child deaths. A series of initiatives are included in the Child Seat, Safety and Serenity programme launched on Tuesday. This will teach parents and carers how to use car seats correctly.

To educate people on the correct usage of kid car seats, how to choose the right seat for a child's age and weight, and how to install them, Dubai Police has partnered with Audi Auto, Noon, and other partners. During the campaign, parents in the emirate will get presents and free child seats from Major General Saif Al Mazroui, the director of Dubai Police's traffic department.

In the first ten months of this year based on recent police statistics, there were 45 road accidents resulting in 45 serious injuries and two deaths of minors. According to the police, parents who let their kids sit on their laps and a lack of caution when it came to child car seats were to blame. For children, child seats lower the danger by 54%, and for babies, it reduces it by 71%.

Regardless of age, everyone in a car is legally obligated to always wear a seat belt under the UAE Federal Traffic Law. A car seat is required for children under four. Dh400 penalties are imposed on drivers who let kids ride in the front seats of their cars.
